Brilliant Creations Outing 2014

To celebrate another year of friendship and strengthen newly formed bonds through teamwork, Brilliant Creations Publishing, Inc. held its annual company outing last September 12-13, 2014 at the Forest Club Eco Resort in Bay, Laguna.

Forest Club is a nature sanctuary and eco-friendly resort nestled between Mt. Banahaw and Mt. Makiling. The club is a perfect venue for outdoor team building activities, seminars and conferences, and spiritual retreats.

This year’s overnight vacation from work was organized by the Production Department. Special thanks go out to Ms. Mary Jean A. Dinglasan, whose efforts made this fun and memorable outing possible.

The day opened with a prayer led by Ms. Jessica Mariz Ignacio. This was followed by an ice-breaker Zumba dance exercise led by Mrs. Leticia Delos Santos.

As it is every year, before the start of the actual competition and bonding activities, the company held a staff evaluation meeting. Mrs. Teresita Anastacio prepared a presentation about teamwork. After which, the staff evaluated themselves individually, then as a team. CEO Dr. Enrique Coralejo and Mrs. Victoria Coralejo also gave inspirational remarks.

After the meeting, it was time for the cheerdance competition! The staff was divided into three teams: Accounting-Warehouse Team, Production Team, and Sales Team. This year’s theme was Filipiniana. Each team represented Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, respectively.

First to perform was the Accounting-Warehouse Team. Sporting their Igorot costumes, they danced Tadek to the beat of the pattong and to their funny jingles medley.

Next was the Production Team. Donning baro’t saya and kamisa de tsino, respectively, the ladies and gentlemen of the Production Team gracefully danced the Pandanggo sa Ilaw. They surprised the audience as they transformed into zombies as Cebu Dancing “Textmates!”

Last, but not the least, was the Sales Team. They were hands down the most resourceful when it comes to props and costumes! They impressed everyone with their Singkil performance, complete with bamboos, Maranao costume, storytelling, and cheer medley.

The cheerdance competition was followed by the annual Mr. and Ms. Brilliant Creations. Mr. Howie Morin from the Sales Team and Ms. Genalyn Payumo from the Production Team won the coveted titles.

At last, it was time to announce the winners of the cheerdance competition. Third place went to the Accounting-Warehouse Team, while the Sales Team finished second. That means the first place went to the Production Team, who celebrated like newly released ex-inmates!

Finally, it was time to get it on and dirty! Under the supervision and assistance of the marshals at Forest Club, each team was timed to do the team building and survival games. Focus, agility and team coordination were tested in the team building activities, consisting of the obstacle course, buko relay, and dragon race.

Meanwhile, trust, teamwork, and camaraderie were developed among members of the team as they went through survival games, consisting of forest canopy walk, bamboo rafting, single rope bridge, and log crossing. Teasing among teams cannot be avoided and it only made the activities and games more fun and challenging.

Cheerdance competition champion Production Team, true to their goal to get it all down and dirty, did the optional mud crawl. The other teams scurried away from them as they tried to give everyone a friendly hug!

Later, it was announced that Production Team also finished first in the teambuilding activities and survival games, making them this year’s overall champion!

Finally, the rest of the day was for leisure and bonding of all the staff. The natural hot spring in the pool was perfect for soothing the body after the games.
